Book of Dead GO Collect Review: Vault Features and Free Spins Explained

A fact-checked look at Play’n GO’s 2026 Book of Dead GO Collect, including Gold Staters, the Treasure Vault and its optional gamble mechanic.

Book of Dead GO Collect combines the familiar expanding-symbol Free Spins format with a collection meter and a Hold N Spin-style Treasure Vault. Play’n GO released the video slot on 26 February 2026. This review is based on the provider's published game information and does not claim a real-money test.

How the base game works

The visual direction returns to the Rich Wilde archaeology theme, but the main structural addition is GO Collect. Gold Staters can appear attached to regular symbols in the base game. Collected Staters advance a meter that may unlock the Treasure Vault.

The meter gives ordinary spins a visible objective beyond the standard pay evaluation. However, a collection mechanic does not change the need to check the game's published paytable, available RTP configuration and betting limits inside the version offered by a specific operator.

Free Spins and the expanding symbol

The Tomb symbol acts as both Scatter and Wild. Three or more Tomb Scatters trigger 10 Free Spins. Before the round begins, one non-Scatter symbol is selected as the expanding symbol.

According to Play’n GO, the selected symbol can expand across its reels when enough copies land to produce a win, and those symbols do not need to be adjacent. The round can be retriggered, with the provider stating a maximum of 80 Free Spins.

Treasure Vault

When the Treasure Vault opens, the game moves to a coin chamber with three Re-Spins. New Staters reset the counter to three. Regular Staters carry multiplier values, while special Staters may carry Mini, Minor, Major or Grand labels.

When the grid fills or the Re-Spins end, the values are combined. An optional Treasure Gamble can then offer a chance to double the Vault total or lose it. Play’n GO says the gamble may be taken up to four times. Because the entire Vault amount is at risk, declining the gamble is a valid decision rather than a failure to complete the feature.

What works well

  • The classic expanding-symbol round remains easy to understand.
  • GO Collect gives the base game a clear progression element.
  • The Vault and Free Spins use different mechanics, creating variety.
  • Provider materials show dedicated desktop and mobile presentations.

What to consider

  • The optional Vault gamble can remove the accumulated feature value.
  • Gold Staters do not appear during Free Spins, so the two systems progress separately.
  • RTP, stake limits and availability should be verified in the actual game client before play.
  • Feature frequency cannot be inferred from a short session.

Verdict

Book of Dead GO Collect is a recognisable sequel that adds a substantial base-game collection system without discarding the expanding-symbol feature associated with the series. It may suit players who prefer visible progression and two distinct bonus structures. Anyone who dislikes all-or-nothing gamble options can simply avoid the optional Treasure Gamble.
